To promote the integration of foreigners into Latvia’s digital environment and to foster the development of economic, scientific, educational, and cultural relations with Latvia, it is now possible to apply for a Foreigners’ Electronic Identification Card (Foreigners’ eID Card) at the Embassy of Latvia in Austria.
The documents required for the issuance of the Foreigners’ eID Card must be submitted in person at the Embassy of Latvia in Vienna.

Required Documents
- Completed application form
- Valid passport or national ID card
Service Fees
- Registration in the Latvian Latvian Register of Natural Persons – EUR 50
- Issuance of the Foreigners’ eID Card – EUR 220
- Postal delivery of documents within the consular district of the Embassy – EUR 20
Payment can be made only by bank card (GIRO/EC, VISA, VISA Electron, VPAY, Maestro, MasterCard).
Important Information!
- The Foreigners’ eID Card is a voluntary electronic identity document. It is not mandatory.
- The card is not a travel document and does not certify the holder’s right of residence in Latvia.
- The card is produced in Latvia and takes approximately 5 to 6 weeks from the date of application at the Embassy.
- The Foreigners’ eID Card is valid for 5 years.
- The completed card will be sent by post to the address provided in the application. Personal collection is not required.
