The Parliamentary Secretary meets with the women's organisation of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry
On 15 August 2024, Dace Melbārde, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, met with a delegation of more than 60 members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ladies Organisation (FICCI FLO).
Addressing the Indian businesswomen, the Parliamentary Secretary stressed the positive dynamics of the development of relations between Latvia and India, as evidenced by recent official visits, the growing interest of Indian companies in Latvia, as well as the opening of the Indian Embassy in Riga. Dace Melbārde invited the Indian delegation to develop economic, scientific and cultural projects with Latvia and the Baltic region.
The women's organisation of the Federation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded in 1983 as the All-Indian Women's Forum. The organisation has 19 divisions covering various geographical regions of India and has more than 9500 female entrepreneurs and professionals. Its head office is located in New Delhi. The organisation's activities take place at three levels – at the basic level for development of entrepreneurial skills, at the middle level for helping women to build their own business and at the highest level for promoting the representation of women in the management and boards of companies.
FICCI FLO President Joyshree Das Verma has also arrived in Riga along with the delegation.
The Indian entrepreneurs are visiting Helsinki, Tallinn, Stockholm and Riga from 8 to 16 August to get acquainted with the Baltic and Nordic countries and business opportunities in the region. In Latvia, the delegation is visiting Riga, Jūrmala and the Rundāle Palace to learn about the economic development of Latvia, women's entrepreneurship and opportunities for mutual cooperation.
