In a conversation with the Czech Foreign Minister, the Baltic States affirm their solidarity with the Czech Republic

On 26 April 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic met in a videoconference, at which the Baltic States expressed their collective solidarity with the Czech Republic in relation to the illegal activities of Russia’s intelligence services in the Czech Republic – their involvement in causing explosions at the Vrbětice ammunition depot in 2014. The Ministers also discussed the relationship with Russia as well as the role of NATO and the European Union in it.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Eva Maria Liimets; and the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Arnoldas Pranckevičius, congratulated the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jakub Kulhánek, on assuming his post.

Jakub Kulhánek thanked the Baltic States for their solidarity and the decision to expel four members of Russia’s intelligence services.

Latvia was among the first to express solidarity at the political level and has supported joint statements published by the EU and NATO.
