The application for a new passport and/or eID card should be submitted in person at the Embassy of Latvia in Ottawa only. Prior registration in the electronic registration system is required.
Visitors without registered appointment will not be accepted!
Before the visit
Please make sure that, in accordance with the Law on the Register of Natural Persons, you have informed Latvian authorities about the changes in personal data that occurred abroad (free of charge):
- address of residence in Canada;
- person’s status (marriage, divorce, change of name/surname etc.);
- acquisition of double citizenship.
NB! Updating the information about residential address in Canada is mandatory for the receiving service at the Embassy. If it has not been updated prior to your visit to the Embassy, then during your visit the Embassy’s employee will do it for a consular fee of 50 EUR per person.
Required documents
- Latvian document(-s) – passport and eID card (if any);
- Canadian document(-s) – Canadian passport, residence permit, work or study permit;
- For children up to 5 years - photo 35x45 mm, on a white background. The photo must not be older than 3 months;
- In case of theft of Latvian documents – police report on the fact of theft (if any);
- For the first-time application of documents – OCMA's (PMLP) decision on granting Latvian citizenship and personal code and birth certificate.

NB! For applications of passport and eID card during Embassy’s visits with the mobile passport station outside Ottawa (Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver) an additional fee will apply.

Bank transfer. The payment link will be prepared and sent to your e-mail during the appointment at the Embassy.
