The exhibition by Latvian textile artist Egils Rozenbergs opens in Ottawa
The exhibition by Latvian textile artist Egils Rozenbergs “SIGNS OF THE TIME” opens at the Ottawa City Hall Art Gallery.
The Vernissage on 29 August featured special guests and the tour by artist Egils Rozenbergs.
Egils Rozenbergs is prominent Latvian textile artist, well known for his large-format textile compositions that impress in movement, colour, and use of mixed materials. The artwork exhibited in Ottawa is a collection of Rozenbergs’ work from the last two decades, featuring pieces from series “Transfiguration”, “Angels and Masks”, “Scars”, "Rhythms of Paris” and “Signs in the Sand”. “Transfiguration” series reflects on our generation in the ever-changing world. The transition from natural fibres to synthetic materials is present in our lives and in Rozenbergs’ creations, so masterfully weaved in by the artist using the Soumak technique.
“SIGNS OF THE TIME” exhibition attests that every time has its symbols and signs and the marks left today will be carried forward by the next generation. The skilful use of mixed materials in Rozenbergs’ work addresses the topic of material sustainability.
The Embassy of Latvia is pleased to offer Egils Rozenbergs' artwork exhibition in Ottawa in partnership with the City Hall Art Gallery of Ottawa.
The exhibition is available until 24 November 2024 and open to the public daily from 9 am to 5 pm, excluding holidays, address: Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. It is admission free.
