Letters of credence have been submitted to the vice president of the Republic of Cuba by the non-resident ambassador of Latvia Kaspars Ozoliņš
On September 18, 2024, Kaspars Ozoliņš, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, presented the letters of credence to the Vice President of the Republic of Cuba Salvador Valdés Mesa. The accreditation of Latvia's first non-resident ambassador to Cuba is an important step in bilateral relations between countries and in relations with the Caribbean region.
During the accreditation ceremony, the possibilities of continuing the political dialogue, expanding the contractual legal base of the two countries, which would allow to develope tourism, cultural and educational relations, were discussed. An important issue of the negotiations was the provision of international order and functioning multilateralism, which is especially important for Latvia to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Also, in a conversation with the vice president of the Republic of Cuba, the ambassador discussed the possibilities of strengthening cooperation between Latvia and Cuba in international formats, especially the UN, looking for common priority issues.
The ambassador expressed confidence that strengthening relations with Cuba will give Latvia the opportunity to build deeper relations with the entire region.
