First ever Latvia – Canada Building Industry Forum to take place in Toronto
On 5th December 2024 Ambassador Kaspars Ozoliņš will officially open the first ever Latvia – Canada Building Industry Forum “Exploring Innovations and Partnership Opportunities for Sustainable and Efficient Residential and Industries Development”. Forum is organized by the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) representative Office in Canada and the Embassy of Latvia in Canada. Major building companies from Latvia and Ontario government officials are expected to participate at the event.
The Forum will take place during “The Buildings Show”, the largest building show in North America, that will occur in the Toronto Metro Convention Centre from 4 to 6 December, 2024. Over 500 exhibitors will participate and over 18 000 attendees are expected to visit the Show. Building companies, producers, developers, distributors, architects and state and municipalities officials are expected to attend the Show. Latvia will participate at the Show with a trade mission and a national booth. Representatives from major building companies from Latvia - Adventum Tech, AM Energy, KUPRAVA INDUSTRY, Riga Wood/LATVIJAS FINIERIS, STIKLA SERVISS, TENAX PANEL, Volko Engineering, WINDOWS FACTORY un WWL HUS - will be present.
Representatives from Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and trade, as well as from the Ministry of Natural Resources will participate in Latvia – Canada Building Industry Forum. During the Forum, building industry innovations in Latvia, as well as advantages offered by the EU - Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will be discussed.
Māris Būmanis, executive board member of Riga Wood/Latvijas Finieris, will share his remarks on Forest Industry in Latvia and Sustainability Innovations. James Borst, Sector Manger, Ontario Centre of Innovation, and Founder & CEO at 3D City Scapes, will talk about the building innovations in Ontario. Two panel discussions will follow, moderated by Ilze Lācgalve, Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) representative Office in Canada. The event will conclude with a social hour aimed at facilitating networking and contacts among companies and entrepreneurs.
The building sector is developing fast in Canada and is supported by government investment due to the acute housing shortage in Canada. Participation in such fora presents an excellent opportunity for Latvian building industry companies to develop their business contacts and establish their presence in Canada, as well as to share their expertise and best practices in the area of innovative technologies and sustainable housing development.
