
Ambassador Kaspars Ozoliņš visits Prince Edward Island and discusses opportunities of cooperation in biotechnologies, aerospace and construction
From October 1st to 3rd Ambassador Kaspars Ozoliņš had a pleasure to visit Prince Edward Island (PEI) with his colleagues, Ambassador of Estonia Margus Rava and Ambassador of Lithuania Egidijus Meilūnas. Ambassadors had useful discussions with His Honour, Dr. Wassim Salamoun, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island, Hon. Rob Lantz, Premier of PEI, Paul Ledwell, Deputy Minister of Veteran Affairs Canada, and Phillip Brown, Mayor of Charlottetown. They also met a wide range of business representatives from PEI, including from biomedicine and construction. During the meetings areas of possible collaboration were discussed with the PEI representatives, including in biotechnologies, aerospace and education.
Ambassadors also visited the Charlottetown Library and Learning Centre which has issued 44 thousand reader cards in a province of 180 thousand inhabitants - an impressive testimony of what modern management under Library Director Grace Dawson can do. Ambassador of Latvia Kaspars Ozoliņš had a pleasure to gift the Library several books by Latvian authors on the 500th anniversary since the first printed book in Latvian.
Ambassadors also visited the University of PEI where they met University staff and had an inspiring discussion with students about global security challenges and the growing cooperation between the Baltic States and Canada.
