Egils Rozenbergs' exhibition "Signs of the Time" opened in Hamilton
On 7 November 2025, the solo exhibition "Signs of the Time" by textile artist Egils Rozenbergs opened in Hamilton, Ontario.
Ambassador Kaspars Ozoliņš, artist Egils Rozenbergs and director of “The Cotton Factory” Mr Robert Zeidler offered opening remarks.
"Signs of the Time" is a collection of Rozenbergs’ work from the last two decades, featuring pieces from series “Transfiguration”, “Angels and Masks”, “Scars”, "Rhythms of Paris” and “Signs in the Sand”, and more. The exhibition attests that every time has its symbols and signs and the marks left today will be carried forward by the next generation. The skilful use of mixed materials in Rozenbergs’ work addresses the topic of material sustainability. In 2024 the exhibition was hosted by Ottawa City Art Gallery and earlier this year by Missisipi Textile Museum in Almonte, Ontario.
The Vernissage for Rozenbergs’ exhibition also opens the Contemporary Textile & Fibre Art Symposium in Hamilton from 7 November to 7 December, offered by NoBa – North Baltica Contemporary Arts. NoBa, created by four Canadian-Latvian women artists, brings the exciting program of international talent in series of events to Hamiton this November, including, Nature, Being & Technology Exhibition, Changing Landscapes (only on 22 Nov), Student Contemporary & Fibre Art Exhibition and the Signs of the Time.
On 16 November, the Latvian Independence Day celebration will also take place at the Cotton Factory.
The Embassy is pleased to partner with NoBa and HALO - Hamilton Latvian organization committee - in support of this significant cultural event. The project has received the funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia diaspora project support program.
