The events in support of Ukraine take place across Canada

To mark the 4th anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Embassy of Latvia and the Latvians across Canada are participating in the events in support of the Ukrainian people.

On 22 February, during a global rally organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress on the Parliament Hill in Ottawa, participants were addressed by the representatives of the Government of Canada, the official opposition and the Senate. Among the speakers were the Honourable Mona Fortier, MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Senator Rebecca Patterson, Co-Chair of the Canada-Latvia Parliamentary Friendship Group, all expressing Canada's unwavering support to Ukraine. The Latvian enterpreneur, national guard, mountaineer and polar explorer, and above all – a champion for Ukraine’s fight for freedom  - Juris Ulmanis attended the event as a guest of honor and delivered a speech.

On 23 February, Ambassador of Latvia to Canada Mr. Kaspars Ozoliņš addressed those present at the event “When war becomes personal”, organized by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Ottawa Branch with the assistance of the Embassy of Latvia. Juris Ulmanis spoke about his work in support of the defenders of Ukraine.

Events in support of Ukraine are taking place across Canada,  also organized by the Latvian diaspora organizations - Daugavas Vanagi   and the Latvian National Federation in Canada.
