Applicant requirements
- The applicant must be at the age of 18 to 30 years old at the time of application.
- Only applicants who have a Japanese passport are eligible.
- Application has to be submitted at the Latvian Embassy in Japan in person (by prior appointment made via our webpage - APPOINTMENT).
- The applicant has not previously entered Latvia on a Working Holiday Visa.
- The applicant is not accompanied by dependents (spouse, children).
- The main purpose of the stay is to spend "vacations" in Latvia - with the option of temporary secondary employment.
Documents to be submitted
- Valid passport (with at least 3 blank pages for visa sticker)
- Completely filled out application form with photo (not older than 6 months) and signed visa application FORM. Select National visa (Type D). Please note that the form must be signed in 2 places: paragraph 36 and at the end of the application form
- 1 colour passport-size photo on a white background (taken within the last 3 months)
- Curriculum Vitae (in English; custom formats can also be used):
- Schedule of Where to Stay (in English; customised format can also be used). Please fill in your plans for your stay as detailed as possible. Please list the places you plan to visit and any other activities you would like to do (language school, work locations and fields, volunteer work, etc.). Time periods can be given in months or seasons. Filling in only phrases such as "work", "travel", “sightseeing" etc. is not eligible.
- One-page letter of motivation (in English);
- Booking of the airplane tickets: Flight ticket: Round trip ticket (to and from destination) or a document proving sufficient funds to purchase travel tickets.
- Proof of financing, e.g. in the form of a bank statement: document proving the necessary means of financial subsistence for a stay in Latvia (Statement from a bank proving that you have the EUR balance required for your stay in Latvia
- Insurance certificate of an international health insurance for the entire duration of your stay. Furthermore, the insurance certificate must show that the insurance is valid in Latvia
It will take normally 15 days to obtain the visa after we receive documents without any insufficient paperwork from applicants.
