Legalisation of the documents at the Embassy

Foreign public documents issued outside of the EU and Switzerland and intended for use in Latvia have to be legalised at the Embassy of Latvia to Egypt or at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia.

Prior to legalisation at the Embassy,  document must be legalised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.  

Documents issued by the countries listed here, must be legalised both at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and the embassy of the issuing country in Egypt (Cairo).

Documents are submitted for legalisation to the Embassy of Latvia in Egypt in person and by an appointment only. To make an appointment, visit: https://pieraksts.mfa.gov.lv/en/egypt.

Documents can be submitted by authorised person.

Upon submitting documents for legalisation, please present/submit following:

1.  Your passport or national ID;

2. Filled-in application form (press on "application form" text to open);

3. The document to be legalised.

State fee – 40 EUR for 1 document legalisation within two (2) hours; 25 EUR for 1 document legalisation within five (5) working days.

All fees are collected in EUR. The state fee is non-refundable. The Embassy accepts international payment cards (credit card if issued by the bank in Egypt). Payment operations are liable to currency exchange fees and bank’s commission.

The Embassy does not accept cash payments.

Documents cannot be legalised if the Embassy does not possess at its disposal a specimen signature of the undersigning official and a sample of the relevant seal or stamp, or if they do not comply with the document processing requirements specified in the legislation (for example, translations or copies are not bound together and sealed, the document is laminated etc.).
