Conclusion of Cultural Project Featuring Prof. Aleksejs Naumovs
The Embassy of Latvia in Egypt has concluded a very successful cultural project aimed at fostering artistic exchange and collaboration between Latvia and Egypt. It was organized by the Embassy in collaboration with several Egyptian partners, showcased the talent of renowned Latvian contemporary landscape artist Prof. Aleksejs Naumovs and provided valuable learning opportunities for students and emerging artists.
The highlight of the cultural project was a series of Plein Air Landscape Masterclasses and a lecture delivered by Prof. Naumovs. The event kicked off with an insightful lecture at Helwan University Faculty of Fine Arts, followed by hands-on masterclass sessions in the tranquil garden of the faculty, with the charming palace of Ali Pasha Fahmy as their backdrop. In addition another plein air session was held in collaboration with Dr. Abdelaziz El Gindy and his talented students from the historic Bab Zuweila in Old Cairo, a landmark dating back more than 900 years. This collaboration provided a unique opportunity for artistic exchange.
Furthermore, the Embassy partnered with Art Café Egypt to host a masterclass plein air session with a group of emerging artists in the garden on Canal Street, beneath the canopy of hundred-year-old eucalyptus trees. Participants were honored to receive certificates personally handed by the Ambassador of Latvia H.E. Andris Razāns, marking their participation in this memorable cultural exchange.
The Embassy extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Helwan University, Prof. Amr Samy and his team, for the support and collaboration throughout the project. The success of this cultural endeavor underscores the importance of building friendships and promoting cultural exchange between Latvia and Egypt.
Prof. Aleksejs Naumovs' remarkable talent and his ability to see the beauty in the surrounding environment have left a lasting impression on all participants. The Embassy expresses sincere appreciation for his participation, efforts, and enthusiasm during his stay in Egypt.
Looking ahead, the Embassy is eager to organize more cultural events that foster friendships and promote cultural understanding between Latvia and Egypt, and inspire creativity across borders.
