Artist Statement:
The resolve of the "Explorer/Mekletajs" photo installation is to enlighten us about the phenomenal network of sacred sites which criss-crosses Latvia.
By honoring the ancient irreplaceable spiritual wealth of our ancestors, we discover sacredness - both deep inside and in the outer world.
At a moment when Latvia - or, for that matter, the whole global community - is experiencing a very real economic, political and spiritual crisis, the return to core values, to our earth - in the most indisputable sense our foundation - strengthens people both spiritually and physically.
The "Explorer/Mekletajs" exhibit points out the we know from whence we have come; it proclaims where we now stand -on holy ground.
