Baltic Sea Region - the Amber Gateway

"Amber Gateway" is a vision of the Nordic-Baltic area in a new Europe - secure, undivided and free. It is a formula for Latvian foreign policy objectives aimed at closer cooperation between the countries around the Baltic Sea and stronger involvement of the United States in the Baltic Region.


Concept of the "Amber Gateway"
Latvian Foreign Minister (November 1997): The Amber Gateway is a co-operative network of markets, linked by ports and airports, fuelled by free enterprise and supported by democratic governments sharing a common vision of peace, trade and prosperity.
