On January 15, 2021 stricter requirements for entry into Latvia, both using international passenger transport as well as a personal vehicle, will come into force. Upon entry into Latvia travellers must:

  1. provide the QR code for the completed Covidpass.lv form;
  2. present a confirmation of a negative Covid-19 test result form the country you are departing (the United States). The test must be performed no earlier than 72 hours before boarding the aircraft.

Proof of a negative test result or other medical document that confirms that the person is not infectious (for example, a medical certificate, antibody certificate) must be presented to the airline. If this is not done, the individual will be denied boarding.

Those exempted from the test requirements are children under the age of 11, as well as individuals who can present proof that they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. For other exceptions please see the Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 360, adopted June 9, 2020, paragraph 354: Epidemiological Safety Measures for the Containment of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection

The mandatory requirement for self-isolation remains unchanged: after arriving from a country with a high risk of infection (including from the United States), a 10 day period of self-isolation, as well as other epidimiological safety requirements as outlined by the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control of Latvia must be observed.
