As of January 15, 2021 a negative Covid-19 test is mandatory for entry into Latvia – updated information

15.01.2021. 23:30

As of January 15, 2021 stricter requirements for entry into Latvia, both using international passenger transport as well as a personal vehicle, are in effect.  Upon entry into Latvia travelers must:

1.      provide the QR code for the completed Covidpass.lv form;

2.      present a confirmation of a negative Covid-19 test result from the country you are departing (the United States). We would like to highlight that until January 25 any type of negative Covid-19 test result must be presented. However, as of January 25, 2021 only proof of a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test result will be accepted. The test must be performed no earlier than 72 hours before boarding the aircraft that will be entering Latvia.

Proof of a negative test result or other medical document that confirms that the person is not infectious (for example, a medical certificate, antibody certificate) must be presented to the airline. If this is not done, the individual will be denied boarding to Latvia.

Children under the age of 11 are exempted from the Covid-19 testing requirements. For other exceptions please see the Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No. 360, adopted June 9, 2020, paragraph 354: Epidemiological Safety Measures for the Containment of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection   We would like to inform that  the earlier  exception of not requiring a negative Covid-19 test for individuals who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 has been removed from the list of exemptions.

The mandatory requirement for self-isolation remains unchanged: after arriving from a country with a high risk of infection (including from the United States), a 10 day period of self-isolation, as well as other epidemiological safety requirements as outlined by the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control of Latvia must be observed.
