Ambassador Māris Selga and Honorary Consul Roberts Blumbergs host Congressional Baltic Caucus Appreciation Night
On February 6th, the Embassy of Latvia hosted a reception to honor the exceptional support rendered by the Congressional Baltic Caucus. Ambassador Māris Selga commenced the event which featured addresses from Honorary Consul Roberts Blumbergs, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Latvia’s Parliament, Rihards Kols, Head of the World Federation of Free Latvians, Pēteris Blumbergs, alongside congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (Iowa) and congressmen Don Bacon (Nebraska) and Wiley Nickel (North Carolina).
During their speeches, the dignitaries reiterated the longstanding bipartisan support extended to the Baltic countries and emphasized the imperative of sustaining assistance to Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s occupation. Alongside expressing gratitude to the Baltic Caucus and congressional leaders, the hosts conveyed appreciation to the Joint Baltic American National Committee (JBANC) for its remarkable advocacy for the Baltic cause in Washington, D.C. The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, Latvian diaspora and the Chairs of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the Estonian, Icelandic, Danish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, and Swedish Parliaments.
