In accordance with the Law on Consular Assistance and Consular Services, the Embassy provides consular services to persons who have indicated in the Register of Natural Persons of Latvia that they live in Norway or Iceland.
Before arriving to the appointment, please check whether your and your child's main or additional address in Norway is registered in the Latvian Register of Natural Persons. You can do this via www.latvija.gov.lv e-service: My Data in the Register of Natural Persons (latvija.gov.lv). If the address is not registered, you can register it free of charge, more information (in Latvian): Dzīvesvietas deklarēšana ārvalstīs.
!!! Starting January 1st, 2025, registering your place of residence abroad at the Embassy will cost 50 EUR per person, regardless of whether you are receiving other paid services at the Embassy.
In order to apply for a new passport and/or eID card of the Republic of Latvia, you must personally come to the Embassy of Latvia in Oslo, having previously registered in the electronic registration system.
Upon arrival at the Embassy, you must bring:
1. your old passport and eID card, if there was one (even if the document has expired);
2. pre-filled forms:
application for notification of residence abroad;
application for passport/eID card. For persons up to 15 years old the application is filled out by the parent (citizen of Latvia). Persons who jhave reached the age of 15, fill out the application themselves.
application for receiving documents by mail (if you want to receive new documents by mail). The application must be completed by each adult.
questionnaire for activation of e-signature certificates - only for those who apply for an eID card (persons from age 14 and over)
notification of document loss (in case previous document is lost/stolen)
3. For children under 5 years of age a passport size (3,5x4,5 cm) colour photo with a white background has to be submitted.
4. Only credit cards are accepted for all payments at the Embassy.
Foreigner's eID card
