Pursuant to Section 14, paragraph three of the Law on the Register of Natural Persons, a Latvian citizen, a Latvian non-citizen, a person who has obtained a residence permit in Latvia, a registration certificate of a European Union citizen or a permanent residence certificate is obliged to notify the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of Latvia of changes in the information about themselves, their minor children and persons under their guardianship or custody that have been made in foreign institutions (e.g, marriage; divorce; change of name; birth of a child; etc.).

The information shall be provided within 30 days after the change or after the person has become aware of the relevant information.

The Embassy does not register changes made in foreign institutions.

Documents should be submitted directly to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA). For more information, please see: Provision of information on changes to the data in the Register of Natural Persons included in foreign institutions | Pilsonības un migrācijas lietu pārvalde.

Please note that the document issued by a foreign institution (that confirms the changes that were made) shall be translated into Latvian before submission to OCMA.
