Latvia’s Honorary Consuls Make Generous Donation to Assist Ukrainian Refugees

13.04.2022. 00:13

The Embassy is humbled by the generosity of Latvia’s Honorary Consuls to the United States. To help support Ukrainian refugees in Latvia, our Honorary Consuls made a significant donation to the Latvian NGO Ziedot.lv.

Ziedot.lv will use this donation to provide practical support to Ukrainian refugees arriving in Latvia. This support includes ensuring Ukrainian refugees have the funds to purchase medicine and food, as well as school supplies for children preparing to continue their education in Latvian schools. If necessary, the donation will also be used to cover medical or rehabilitation expenses.

On behalf of Ambassador Māris Selga and the Government of Latvia, the Embassy thanks them for their generosity and readiness to help Ukrainians in their time of need.

Honorary Consuls are unpaid representatives of Latvia, and some fulfill limited consular functions. In the United States Latvia has honorary consuls in Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Vermont.  Gints Zadraks, the diplomat working on economic issues, is responsible for cooperation with the Honorary consuls in the U.S.
