On 11–12 September 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, will take part in the annual meeting of the Baltic and Nordic (NB8) Foreign Ministers in Borgarnes, Iceland, where there will be an exchange of views on priority issues for the European Union (EU) and security policy.
The ministers will look at developments in the Arctic, climate change and clean oceans, topics on the EU agenda, relationship with Russia and China, cooperation in the United Nations and other international relations highlights.
The NB8 format comprises Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden. This year, NB8 cooperation is coordinated by Iceland, which has set regional security, human rights and mitigating climate change as priorities for cooperation.
