President of Latvia sends a letter to Nicolas Sarkozy, the winner of the presidential election of France (President's Chancery)

The President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga sent a letter today to Nicolas Sarkozy who had won the presidential election of France on 6 May. In the letter the Presidentstresses the good bilateral co-operation between Latvia and France as well as partnership in the EU and NATO. According to Vaira Vike-Freiberga the countries as partners and allies must continue common efforts for finding solutions for the most important current issues of Europe. In this context the President points out that Latvia appreciates the significant role France plays in the European issues and expresses confidence that Nicolas Sarkozy will appreciate the important role of all EU member states in creating the European future disregarding their size and potential.
